With the aim to improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, many buildings are required to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations – Conservation of Fuel and Power. For new building projects, compliance should be shown to be achievable from the outset. The Approved Documents of these regulations and the types of buildings affected can be listed as follows;

• L1A – new dwellings
• L1B – existing dwellings
• L2A – new buildings other than dwellings
• L2B – existing buildings other than dwellings
